Koenigsegg One:1 Top Speed
The whole car is named after a ratio. It makes 1,360 PS and it weighs 1,360 kg, so there is exactly one horsepower pushing each kilogram, which no road-legal production car had managed before. The often-quoted 440 km/h (273 mph) is Koenigsegg's own estimate from the aerodynamics and the tyres, not a run anyone made. What the One:1 did actually do, measured, is reach 300 km/h in 11.92 seconds and get back to a standstill in 17.95 seconds total.

About the One:1
Koenigsegg called it the world's first megacar, because 1,360 PS works out at almost exactly one megawatt. That is marketing, but the number underneath it is not. One horsepower per kilogram of kerb weight is a threshold nobody had crossed in a car you could register and drive on a road, and it is much harder than it sounds. Adding power adds cooling, and cooling adds weight, so every step forward tends to drag you backwards.
The answer was to attack the weight rather than just the power. The wheels are hollow carbon fibre. The exhaust is Inconel. Even the wing supports do structural work. The car sits on active suspension that lowers itself as speed builds, and it makes around 610 kg of downforce at 260 km/h, which is a strange thing to want on a car people quote a 440 km/h figure for.
That tension is worth being honest about. The One:1 was set up to go round corners and up hills, not to run in a straight line for eight kilometres. Koenigsegg never took it to a measured mile, and the 440 you see everywhere is a calculation from its drag and gearing. It is a reasonable calculation. It is still not a result.
What is measured is the acceleration. In 2015 the One:1 went from a standstill to 300 km/h in 11.92 seconds, and from a standstill to 300 and back to a standstill in 17.95 seconds. Only seven were built, one of which was the prototype shown at Geneva, and all six customer cars were sold before the car was even revealed.
