Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Top Speed
In April 2013 at Ehra-Lessien, Anthony Liu drove the Vitesse to 408.84 km/h (254.04 mph) with the roof panel removed. That made it the fastest open-top production car in the world, a title it held until the W16 Mistral took it in 2024. On the road the car is limited to 375 km/h.

About the Grand Sport Vitesse
The Vitesse is what happens when you take the Super Sport engine and put it in the open-topped Veyron. Same 1,200 PS, same 1,500 Nm, but with the roof panel out and the sky above you.
That sounds simple and it really is not. Taking the roof off a car doing over 400 km/h changes how air moves around the whole body, and it takes stiffness out of the structure at exactly the moment you need it most. Bugatti reinforced the chassis, reworked the windscreen surround and redesigned the air intakes to keep the car settled.
The result is a car that will genuinely do more than 400 km/h with your head in the wind, which is a strange and slightly absurd thing to be able to say about any production car.
