The American eel is a freshwater species of eel, able to find in any fresh body of water, coastal marine waters that are connected to the Atlantic Ocean, but they are catadromous, they return to the ocean to breed . Eels have the ability to breathe through their skin . After they are born, Eels’s gender is only determined once an eel enters fresh water , most of them that stay in the estuaries and brackish water become males and those that go upstream become females. Nobody know how that happens .
